There may be times when you want to change or retrieve your WiFi password for one reason or another. Typically, this is done to ensure your network remains secure.
Although not required, it is recommended for you to connect your modem with an Ethernet cord to avoid disconnection while changing your WiFi information.
If you are leasing a modem through NewWave, the easiest and recommended way to change or retrieve your password is by doing so in your My Account.
My Account method:
1. Log into your online Customer Portal.
2. Click the "Services" tab on the top navigation bar.
3. Scroll down to the section labeled " Wifi Network".
4. To retrieve your password, simply click "Retrieve Password". To reset your password, simply click "Reset Password" and enter your new password.

NOTE: Technical Support can only assist with leased NewWave modems.
To change your WiFi password on a NewWave non-SURFboard model modem, follow these steps:
1. Connect to your NewWave Internet service.
2. Open a browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in your browser's address bar.
3. Enter the following user name: admin
4. Enter the following password: password
5. Under Basic Setup, it is recommended to change the Wireless Network Name (SSID). Under Security Settings, delete the current entry in the Pre-shared Key location and replace it with your own password/code.
6. Click Apply.
Your WiFi password has been changed. Any WiFi connected devices which used the old password to connect will need to be updated with your newly created password.
To change your WiFi password on a Hitron modem, follow these steps:
1. Connect to your NewWave Internet service.
2. Open a browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in your browser's address bar. This will bring you to a login page.
3. Enter the following user name: cusadmin
4. Your password is the case-sensitive MAC address on your modem, excluding colons.
5. Click 'Wireless' from menu bar across the top of the page.
6. Change the Network Name (SSID) field to your desired WiFi name if you want to change the name of your WiFi.
7. In the Password field, change the password to your desired WiFi password. Note that the password must be at least 8 characters in length.
8. Click "Save Changes".
Note: To change the wireless info for the 5GHz Wi-Fi network, click the 5G tab above the words 'Basic Settings, and repeat steps 6 thru 8.
Special instructions for a NewWave Motorola SURFboard model modem:
1. Connect to your NewWave Internet service.
2. Open a browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in your browser's address bar.
3. Enter the following user name: admin
4. Enter the following password: motorola
5. Under the Wireless link at the top, choose Primary Network Settings. (At this point it is recommended to change the Network Name). Delete the current entry in the Passphrase location and replace it with your own password.
6. Click Apply
