NewWave strives to produce a high level of reliability, stability, and security for our High Speed Internet Subscribers. As such, we constantly evaluate cable modems on our network for compatibility and performance. The following is an up to date list of cable modems that have been certified to work on the NewWave high speed internet network.
NewWave requires customers to use a DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem. These modems incorporate the latest cable technology, have the capability to deliver faster Internet speeds, and have a longer expected lifetime. Existing customers with older modems, using DOCSIS 2.0 technology, will still be able to utilize some NewWave High Internet packages, but will not be able to utilize the faster High Internet speed packages without first replacing their modem. NewWave strongly recommends customers select DOCSIS 3.0 modems which are capable of at least 8 channel bonding for the best speed performance.
Modems recommended for plans up to 1000 Mbps.

What does “End of Life” mean on my modem?
A cable modem that is specified as “End of Life” was once a recommended NewWave cable modem. Due to the discontinued production, manufacturer support changes, or other technical issues, these cable modems are no longer recommended. At present, these modems will continue to operate normally on our network and are permitted. No dates have been specified to retire these modems from our network at this time.
If you lease a modem from NewWave, you don’t need to do anything at this time. You will be contacted by a representative from our local NewWave office in the near future. Until then, please continue to enjoy your High Speed Internet access provided by NewWave!
If you have purchased your own modem, we suggest that at some point in the near future subscribers replace these cable modems with an approved NewWave modem.
Want to purchase your own modem?
If you choose to purchase a modem, NewWave recommends you purchase a new modem from a reputable source with DOCSIS 3.0 technology. Second-hand modems obtained from online sources may not work properly on NewWave’s network even if listed above. NewWave reserves the right to refuse service to any modem or modem model which might impair network performance. See the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for details
